IPC12 offers a dynamic mix of presentation formats designed to highlight cutting-edge science and spark lively discussion. From full-length oral talks and rapid-fire lightning sessions to in-depth poster displays and keynote addresses, presenters will have multiple opportunities to share their work and engage with the international penguin research community.
Oral Presentations
Each oral presentation will run for a total of 12 minutes and 10 minutes for your talk, followed by 2 minutes for audience questions. To ensure the program runs smoothly, please note that time limits will be strictly observed. As you prepare your talk, keep this in mind.
Presentations will be scheduled in thematic sessions running from Monday, 31 August to Friday, 4 September, during both morning and afternoon blocks. All presentations must be in PowerPoint or PDF format.
Lightning Presentations
Lightning presentations are short, high-impact talks designed to showcase emerging ideas, early-stage research, and innovative concepts. Each presenter will have 5 minutes to deliver their presentation, with no dedicated Q&A (questions can be followed up during the poster session). This format is ideal for sharing preliminary findings, novel approaches, or sparking discussion around work still in progress. Poster presenters are strongly encouraged to participate in both the lightning session and the traditional poster session to maximise visibility and engagement with their work.
Poster Presentations
Posters should be prepared in A0 portrait format (84×119 cm) to fit the available display boards. Tape will be provided to assist with setup. Posters will be on continuous display from Tuesday, 1 September to Thursday, 3 September. There will be no poster changeover, so each presenter’s work will receive extended exposure.
Dedicated poster sessions will take place daily from 16:00 to 17:30, and presenters are expected to be available at their posters during these times to engage with attendees and answer questions. Poster installation will be possible starting Monday morning, allowing authors plenty of time to set up.
Keynote presentation
Keynote speakers will have a total of 40 minutes – 30 minutes for the presentation, followed by 10 minutes for audience questions. We ask all keynote speakers to keep to these time timings, as oral sessions will begin immediately afterwards. There will be five or possibly six keynote presentations scheduled throughout the conference. Details on presentation times, along with the final program and abstract book, will be shared with you soon.
